Data from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) with BT Openreach shows that 7,000 care homes in England are without adequate Internet connections. Only a third of the sector is fully digital, with the remaining two-thirds either entirely paper-based or using a mix of paper and digital. This is despite the UN defining internet access as a human right in 2016.

The Adult Social Care Infection Control Fund is worth £600 million. The primary purpose of this fund is to support adult social care providers, including those with whom the local authority does not have a contract, to reduce the rate of COVID-19 transmission in and between care homes and support wider workforce resilience. You may be able to apply for the fund to use digital technology in care homes for infection control.

The GHM Care Team have recently been working on a project for Hillside Care Home, a nursing and residential care home with 58 residents in South Wales. Part of the project is installing our Nexus Care Platform, a messaging platform that sends nursecall alarms and alerts directly to mobile phones so noisy consoles can be silenced.
